The objective of the first digital website draft was to include all the content on the website homepage which includes the title cluster, schedule, buttons, speakers and newsletter, at the desktop breakpoint. It must also use a web safe typeface, have consistent and effective type sizes and hierarchy, and use a typographic scale system and baseline grid to follow.
First Digital Draft (Desktop Breakpoint)
The website is only one page so the homepage has all the content required including the title cluster, schedule, buttons, speakers and newsletter. I used Century Gothic as my typeface because it is sans serif, web safe, and the same typeface as the rest of my project. I started figuring out what each of my headers would look like at each point in the hierarchy and the typographic scale system I would use. The highest element in the hierarchy is the conference title cluster so that is the biggest type size, the "Speakers" heading is next so it's bold and a little bit smaller, and in the schedule I used italics and bold to differentiate the times, speakers and lectures. The lowest element in the hierarchy is the body copy which is the smallest type size and is 14px, which is the ideal size for desktop body copy. This draft does not use a baseline grid and was added in the next draft.
